The western city of Mbarara has in the course of the last twelve months been thrilled with a host of new talents, notably a one Grande Ug who has mesmerised the western Uganda music industry with his catchy lyrics and unique vocals.
As we write this Grande has been branded and changed his stage name from Grande Ug to “Ntare”. As a matter of fact, he has also been snapped up by a new management dubbed “Super Rich Gang”, a music label from the same city owned by female singer Emily Kikazi.
Ntare, as his new stage name is put pen to paper on Tuesday in a colourful ceremony held at the label’s offices in downtown Mbarara. Super Rich Gang has been in protracted negotiations with the young music maestro for some time as they jostled to have him signed, with several other music record labels hovering. Ntare will now enjoy the luxury of doing music and awesome music videos as well as seeing his music marketed to western Uganda and beyond, in addition to a hefty paycheque.
Ntare, formerly known as Grande has taken western Uganda by storm with his ” Niwe Wenka” hit song which is gaining massive airplay around the region and has made him a household name. He also released several songs such as “I’ll follow”, ” Nyonyozi” and his latest hit “Nyina Bwengye”.
The last born of a hugely religious family Ntare was born Joseph Atwijuka to Mr Rwakarobo Fred and Elivansion Kobusingye on 2nd January 1998 in Rubaare, Ntungamo. He currently resides in Mbarara from where he continues to move up the music ladder.
