The global outbreak of the COVID 19 has crippled so many functions that involve public gatherings and the Miss Uganda pageant was not left behind. The annual event could not happen this year with the fear of spreading COVID19 hence being postponed to next year with hope that the pandemic shall be no more.
Therefore Olivier Nakakande will have to enjoy the beauty queen for one more year.
According to Brenda Nanyonjo the foundation CEO, there is no other option but to let Olivier reign for two more terms as Uganda’s beauty queen.
“Under the given circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have no option but to postpone this year’s pageant to next year,” Nanyonjo said. “Until then, Oliver Nakakande will continue her reign as Miss Uganda as will other title holders for one more year,” she added.
Leah Kagasa, Miss Uganda 2016, in the same way, held the crown for two extra terms as there were no competitions in the following year of 2017. She was later replaced by Quinn Abenakyo in 2018.
Miss World in the same way halted any activities concerning any beauty pageants for fear of the spread of COVID 19. They officially announced in July this year that all this would have to wait till 2021.
