On 30th, December ,2020 National Unity Platform presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine along with his group of around 100 individuals were arrested in Kalangala where they had gone for his campaigns.
Bobi wine was later airlifted to his home in Magere with police asserting that he was not arrested as news was spreading all over the internet.
96 of his colleagues we’re moved from Kalangala police headquarters to Masaka Central police headquarters and charged with cases of inciting violence.
It is against that background that these people groups’ spouses have come out in tears to demand for the release of their husbands claiming they are starving sexually.
“We need to see our husbands. Ever since you arrested them we have not seen them. They left us with children, we are missing sex. Please let us see our husbands,” they said.
Be that as it may, Uganda Peoples’ Defence Force ( UPDF) deputy spokes person Lt Col Deo Akiiki tasked them to file for habeas corpus in courts of law since the matter I already in court.
Habeas corpus means a recourse in law through which a person can report an unlawful detention or imprisonment to a court and request that the court order the custodian of the person, usually a prison official, to bring the prisoner to court, to determine whether the detention is lawful.
