Museveni Questions Fate of Kansanga Child Murder Case as Public Demands Justice

President Yoweri Museveni has raised concerns over the apparent disappearance of a high profile murder case involving a man convicted of killing children in Kansanga, Christopher Okello questioning why the public has not been informed about the final outcome of the matter.

Speaking during a recent engagement, Museveni recalled how he had previously urged the justice system to conduct a public trial in Kansanga, where the crime was committed, to ensure transparency and public confidence in the judicial process.

“You all remember that boy that killed children in Kansanga. I begged the system to go and hold a public trial in the same area the case was committed. It was held and after I heard that there was an appeal, now the case has disappeared,” Museveni said.

The President questioned why authorities had not updated the public on the status of the case, arguing that citizens deserve to know whether justice was ultimately served.

“Why don’t you people always appear to show the public that justice has been served?” he asked.

Museveni’s remarks have reignited public discussion about the handling of criminal cases and the need for greater transparency within the justice system, particularly in matters that attract widespread public interest.

The Kansanga murders shocked the country and sparked calls for swift action from law enforcement and judicial authorities. While a trial was conducted, the President’s comments suggest concerns remain over what happened after reports emerged that an appeal had been filed.

His statement has since attracted attention on social media, with many Ugandans echoing calls for authorities to provide an update on the case and reassure the public that justice has not been delayed or forgotten.
