Makerere University Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Mr. Umar Kakumba has revealed that Makerere University will reopen for six weeks to complete the semester. This however will be conducted online under the Open, Distance, and E-learning mode. (ODEL).
In a circular released by the deputy vice chancellor the university will open officially on the 5th of October 2020. All colleges will be involved as authorized by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
“Therefore, a tentative roadmap has been drawn to guide the process of resuming the teaching and learning effective October 5, 2020, under the emergency ODEL mode,” the circular reads.
The different departments will be required to follow the program that was supposed to be covered in the remaining six weeks. Kakumba advised the different colleges and faculties to utilize the time before opening date to prepare the students for the semester and the various e-learning requirements.
Different colleges and departments will also use the time before October 5 to develop schedules and contact respective students for sensitization and preparation on requirements for the e-learning process
