Leone Island singer Joseph Mayanja alias Dr Jose Chameleone has hit out at President Yoweri Museveni over his continued insistence on keeping Ugandans under lockdown despite the fact that many nations of the world have lifted lockdowns and have started devising for means to live with the virus. Despite the fact that many countries are moving on, Uganda is still under lockdown with big chunks of the economy such as religious institutions, education institutions, trading markets, sections of public transport such as Boda Bodas, salons, malls as well as the sporting economy all still under lock and key.

To make matters worse, the electoral Commission, Uganda’s electoral body has announced that campaigns for 2021 polls shall be done online with open air campaigns and crowds or gatherings barred. It is against this background Uganda’s music veteran Jose Chameleone who has also shown interest to contest for mayorship in Kampala has rubbished President Museveni for maintaining the lockdown despite knowing that the virus will be with us longer. Chameleone wonders how a country with very few patients and zero deaths can keep the economy grounded yet more affected countries are easing lockdown.

The musical doctor reminded the president that although Ugandans have patiently followed his guidance, they are now left with no option but to start rebelling and resuming work with or without his authorisation.

Read Jose Chameleone’s statement below:

 UGANDA,
A country of peace and freedom Has become a den of promises and hope. We have waited and waited so long!! We have abided but now that we know other societies are moving forth as they have always done we are keeping backward.
Let’s pick onto the world tempo as COVID19 is a worldwide pandemic.
You have addressed us sir, we have heeded too.
Let Uganda go world tempo than keeping us home as the world moves forth.
People are tired of the senseless “LOCKDOWN”:
Other countries are opening,Let people have food on the table as you promised some of us were left out!! Open up and let’s do it ourselves.
