Dr Lulume Bayiga Slams Presidential Motorcade Road Closures Over Traffic Chaos

The deputy president for the Buganda region of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), Dr. Lulume Bayiga, has strongly criticized the traffic disruptions caused by presidential motorcades, calling them unnecessary and harmful to ordinary Ugandans.

Bayiga expressed concern over the frequent road closures linked to the movements of Yoweri Museveni, saying they have resulted in severe congestion, especially in busy urban areas like Kampala.

According to Bayiga, the practice of halting traffic for extended periods not only inconveniences motorists but also disrupts business operations and delays emergency services. He argued that such measures prioritize the comfort of a few leaders at the expense of the wider public.

He further urged authorities to adopt more efficient and less disruptive security arrangements that ensure both the safety of the president and the smooth flow of traffic.

The remarks come amid growing public frustration over recurring traffic standstills whenever the presidential convoy passes, with many citizens calling for reforms to minimize inconvenience.

Bayiga reiterated the need for leadership that is mindful of citizens’ daily struggles, emphasizing that public roads should serve all Ugandans equally.
