Ugandan musician Namwanje Nashim, popularly known as Sheem Mwanje has shared her troubling experience from her early days in the music industry, recounting an incident involving inappropriate behaviour by a male music producer.
Speaking out during an interview with Abdul Ssempijja, Sheem Mwanje revealed that while in the studio recording a song, the producer allegedly made an uncomfortable and unprofessional advance toward her. She claims that the producer exposed his big bamboo and pressured her to feel it, a request she says she hesitated to comply with.

The singer’s revelation has sparked conversations about the challenges female artists face behind the scenes, particularly regarding safety and professionalism in studio environments.
Her story adds to growing concerns about misconduct within the entertainment industry, with many calling for stricter measures to protect upcoming artists from exploitation.
Fans and industry stakeholders have since expressed support for Sheem Mwanje, urging more artists to speak out and pushing for accountability to ensure safer working spaces in Uganda’s music scene.
