Police along Jinja Road are holding three suspects in connection with a case of personation involving the impersonation of the Inspector General of Police.

The suspects have been identified as Ariho Abubakar Uthmaan, Bukenya Fayim, and Kaweesi Dalton, were arrested on March 24, 2026, following investigations into fraudulent activities conducted on various social media platforms.

According to the police spokesperson Afande Racheal Kawala, the trio allegedly impersonated the Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, with the intent to extort money from both police officers and unsuspecting members of the public.

Authorities confirmed that a case of personation has been officially registered, and investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the scheme.

A search carried out at the suspects’ premises reportedly led to the recovery of electronic devices and documents believed to have been used in executing the fraudulent activities.

Police have cautioned the public to remain vigilant and verify information from official sources to avoid falling victim to similar scams.
