- Media personality Nina Roz Kankunda has criticized security agencies over the alleged arrest of musician Reign and several other youths during a football gathering, questioning why a sporting activity appeared to attract such a forceful response.
In a post shared on X, Nina Roz claimed that Reign was pepper-sprayed while others were arrested as they gathered to play football.
“When did playing football become a crime in Uganda?” Nina roz asked.
The commentator argued that football pitches should be spaces for recreation and community engagement, not scenes of confrontation between security personnel and young people.
“Reign was pepper-sprayed, others arrested, all for gathering to play football. A football pitch is not a crime scene, and young Ugandans are not criminals for coming together,” Nina wrote.
Nina Roz further questioned the broader implications of the incident, asking,
“What exactly are we becoming?”
The remarks quickly attracted reactions online, with supporters of the musician and other social media users demanding clarity on the circumstances surrounding the arrests and the use of force.
At the time of publication, authorities had not publicly commented on the allegations raised by Nina Roz.
