Grace Nakimera Fires Back at Frank Gashumba Over Remarks on Fake Pastors

Ugandan musician Grace Nakimera has hit back at social commentator Frank Gashumba over his remarks questioning the credibility of some pastors, insisting that faith and spiritual intervention played a significant role in her personal recovery.

Nakimera, who rose to fame with songs such as Anfukuula and Kawonawo, recounted a difficult period in her life when she says several medical doctors failed to identify and treat a condition she was experiencing.

According to the singer, she consulted different doctors and explored various options before eventually finding a pastor whom she credits with helping her through the difficult period.

Nakimera maintains that her experience strengthened her belief in God and the power of prayer, arguing that healing through faith requires belief and patience.

She has since urged Gashumba to withdraw his remarks and apologise to religious leaders, saying that attacking men of God is wrong.

Her response follows Gashumba’s criticism of pastors whom he accuses of pretending to possess spiritual powers and misleading believers with claims of miraculous healing.

Gashumba has questioned the credibility of religious leaders who claim to heal people suffering from serious illnesses, challenging them to demonstrate their alleged healing abilities under verifiable conditions.

He has also questioned the routines of some believers who attend morning services, lunchtime fellowships, evening services and overnight prayers, wondering when they find time to work and earn a living.

The controversy has reignited debate about the role of pastors in society, with Nakimera defending her personal faith while Gashumba continues to question the authenticity of some religious leaders.

Meanwhile, Nakimera has previously spoken publicly about her struggle with alcohol addiction after turning to Christianity, describing the challenges she faced in trying to leave her old habits behind.

Although claims have circulated online linking her past struggles to other substances, those allegations have not been independently verified and should not be treated as established facts.

For Nakimera, her personal experience remains a reason to defend the role of faith in people’s lives, as she calls on Gashumba to apologise for his remarks about pastors.
