Dwiz Playboy Accuses Sheebah and Karole Kasita of Copying His ‘Bukutu’ Song

Rising Ugandan singer Dwiz Playboy has raised concerns over alleged similarities between his song Bukutu and a newly released track of the same title by established musicians Sheebah Karungi and Karole Kasita.

Dwiz Playboy claims he released his version of Bukutu in 2025 and uploaded it to online music platforms, including YouTube, before Sheebah and Karole Kasita unveiled their own collaboration.

The emerging singer says he was surprised to see the two musicians release a song carrying the same title, sparking questions about the originality of the new release and the similarities between the two projects.

The collaboration between Sheebah and Karole Kasita has attracted attention on Uganda’s entertainment scene, but Dwiz Playboy feels the release has overshadowed his earlier work and affected his efforts to establish himself in the competitive music industry.

Speaking in an interview, Dwiz Playboy also opened up about his journey into music, revealing that he and his manager previously pursued football before deciding to abandon the sport and focus on building a music career.

According to the singer, their transition into music saw them approach Sheebah during the launch of Karma Music, where they sought an opportunity to audition.

Dwiz Playboy believes he was among the best performers during the auditions, making the situation surrounding the new Bukutu release particularly disappointing for him.

The singer feels that having two established artists release a song with the same title has made it harder for his version to receive the recognition he believes it deserves.

However, sharing a song title alone does not establish that one artist copied another. Determining whether there are similarities in the lyrics, melody, beat or other elements would require a comparison of the two recordings.

For now, Dwiz Playboy’s concerns have brought renewed attention to his 2025 release as questions emerge over the two songs carrying the same name.
