    NUP’s Moses Nsereko Joins PLU

Political tensions continue to rise as Moses Nsereko, a member of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has officially crossed over to the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

Nsereko was warmly received into the PLU ranks by the organization’s Director for Mobilisation, Michael Mawanda, in a move that has already sparked conversations within Uganda’s political landscape.

While details surrounding his decision to leave NUP remain unclear, sources indicate that Nsereko cited the need for “a broader platform to engage and mobilize Ugandans” as part of his motivation for joining PLU.

Speaking during the brief reception, Mawanda welcomed Nsereko, describing his addition as a significant boost to the league’s mobilisation efforts across the country. “This is a step in the right direction as we continue to bring together leaders committed to national development,” Mawanda noted.

Nsereko’s defection adds to a growing list of political realignments ahead of the next electoral cycle, highlighting shifting loyalties and evolving strategies among Uganda’s political actors.

Political analysts say such moves could have far-reaching implications, particularly for NUP, which has been positioning itself as a dominant opposition force. Neither Nsereko nor NUP’s top leadership had issued an official detailed statement by press time.
