Munyagwa Urges Men to Trust Their Wives, Dismisses Need for DNA Tests

Former Kawempe South legislator Hon. Mubarak Munyagwa has advised men to trust their spouses and stop subjecting their children to DNA tests, saying he has never found a reason to doubt the paternity of his own children.

Speaking during a recent discussion, Munyagwa stated that once a wife assures her husband that a child belongs to him, that trust should be sufficient and there should be no need for scientific verification.

“If my wife tells me the child is mine, I have no reason to doubt her. I can’t take my children for DNA tests, especially after giving them my name. Men should stop wasting their time,” Munyagwa reportedly said.

The outspoken politician argued that family relationships should be built on trust, adding that constant suspicion only creates unnecessary conflicts within marriages and homes.

His remarks come amid growing public debate surrounding DNA testing in Uganda, with several high-profile paternity disputes making headlines in recent years. The discussions have prompted differing opinions on whether men should seek scientific confirmation of paternity or rely on trust and commitment within their relationships.

Supporters of Munyagwa’s stance believe that mutual trust is the foundation of every successful marriage and that routine DNA testing undermines that principle. Others, however, maintain that modern technology provides an opportunity to eliminate doubts and resolve potential disputes before they escalate.

The comments have since sparked conversations on social media, with many Ugandans weighing in on the balance between trust, truth, and family stability.

While opinions remain divided, Munyagwa’s message was clear: for him, a wife’s word is enough, and men should focus their energy on raising and supporting their children rather than pursuing DNA tests.
