One of his collaborators was Maggie Kayima, a gospel singer who left her career and went to the United States in pursuit of greater prospects. In a social media post, she thanked God for his divine protection and talked about how she avoided getting HIV in a past life.

Bellow is the statement;

A Story I Still Struggle to Explain — But God Knows (TRUE STORY)
I’m writing this after leaving an appointment with my primary care doctor, and I’m still trying to process what he told me.
Last week, my doctor ordered extensive blood work. Among the many tests was HIV. Today, he went through the results with me.
Everything came back negative. HIV included. I sat there thinking, Again, God?
Because this isn’t my first negative HIV test. It is probably my fifth over the years. And every time I hear those words, my mind travels back to a chapter of my life that still leaves me speechless.
It started around 2008, when I became involved with a very powerful man. We would remain together for almost a decade. At the beginning, I didn’t know he was living with HIV.
Around 2011, while in South Africa, he became extremely ill and nearly died. That was when he finally confessed that he was HIV-positive and that his CD4 count had dropped dangerously low.
When he told me, I didn’t even question whether I had HIV. In my mind, I had already accepted that I must be positive too. We had been together for years.
When he returned, we went to Mengo Hospital and tested together.
His result: positive.
Mine: negative. He couldn’t believe it.
So we went to the Joint Clinical Research Centre and tested again.
He was still positive.
I was still negative.

I remember him staring at me for what felt like forever. It wasn’t an ordinary look. It was the look of someone trying to understand something that didn’t make sense to him.
Then he finally said something I have never forgotten.
Something that has stayed with me all these years:
“Today I finally understand just how blessed and protected you are. I truly believe AIDS will never be what takes your life; when your time eventually comes, it will be from something else.” Those words stayed with me.
But I would be lying if I said another thought didn’t cross my mind.
After seeing his reaction, and how difficult it was for him to accept my repeated negative results, I sometimes wondered whether a part of him had expected, or perhaps even wanted, me to be positive too. Maybe because then we would be carrying the same burden together.
But God had written something different.
I also realized that underneath his disbelief was fear. He was afraid that now that I knew he was positive and knew that I wasn’t, I would leave him.
He asked me not to.
And perhaps the biggest shock I gave him wasn’t my negative result.
It was that I stayed.
I didn’t abandon him. We continued our relationship.
Later, I traveled to South Africa and tested again.
Negative.

At that point, even I was asking questions.
Then life took me through another difficult chapter—Kigo Prison. The cold conditions were harsh. We could be awakened around 4:00 in the morning and ordered outside in the freezing cold. At one point, I developed severe nosebleeds that continued for three straight days.
Before long, people started whispering.
Some assumed it had something to do with HIV. Eventually, one of the prison doctors checked my medical records.
Negative. Again.
People couldn’t believe it.
HIV science itself tells us that transmission is not automatic; an HIV-negative partner can remain negative. I don’t dismiss medicine or science.
But when I look at the whole journey of my life, I also see something greater:
God.
The man I loved eventually passed away from complications related to the disease he had lived with. Yet the words he spoke after staring at my negative results stayed with me long after he was gone.
He called me blessed and protected before I fully understood what those words would mean to me.
And today, many years later, here I am—driving away from my primary care doctor’s appointment in America, hearing those familiar words once again:

HIV negative.
So yes, science can explain risk and transmission.
But my faith explains something science cannot measure: the God I believe has carried me through every chapter.
Through love.
Through fear.
Through South Africa.
Through prison.
Through rumors.
Through loss.
Through things that should have broken me.
And somehow, I am still here.
Maybe that’s why, deep inside, I have always felt there is an anointing over my life. Not because hardship has avoided me, it certainly hasn’t—but because somehow, through situations I thought would destroy me, God kept bringing me through.
Today, I don’t need to understand everything.
I just know that God has the final word.
And as I drive home still stunned by today’s results, my heart has only one response:
Thank You, God. You have been there all along.
